It’s a very unpleasant thought to consider- what if I (or my spouse) should die unexpectedly?  Who wants to think about that too often?

But, as it has been said, the only two things certain in life are death and taxes.

When someone you know passes away prematurely, your first concern is always for the feelings of the survivors- their grief, how they are doing emotionally.  But what is the first PRACTICAL question everyone asks?

It is “did they have life insurance”?  And if the answer is “no”, then the reaction is a sad shake of the head and questioning why they wouldn’t have taken care of such an important, basic matter.  And if the answer is “yes”, then the reaction is relief that at least the bills will be taken care of, the house can be kept, the kids can still go to college.
